2019 FIFA U-17 World Cup: Coach highlights athletes’ bravery

Luanda National U-17 football team were brave in 0-2 defeat by Brazil on Friday, favorite to conquer the soccer championship, said national main coach Pedro Goncalves.

Goncalves was speaking to the press at the end of the last match of the initial phase (group A), played at the Olympic Stadium in Goiania, Brasilia.

He praised the full compliance of their game plan, adding that the players were also well organised on the pitch.

Commending the performance of national team, the coach said that Angola was incomparable in view of the potential of the opponent (Brazil), three-time champions of the category, compared to the emerging national team in this type of competition.

Angola and Brazil have already achieved the first knockout stage.

The win enabled the host team to lead group A with 9 points, followed by Angola with six.

New Zealand, who lost 1-2 to Angola, are placed third with 3 points, against zero of the fourth-placed Canada (also lost to Angola 1-2).

Angola’s opponent for Tuesday game in the 8th finals will be known this Saturday.
