Head of State receives central trade unions memorandum

Luanda – The President of the Republic, João Lourenço, received on Wednesday in Luanda, from the trade union centrals, a joint memorandum, aimed at improving the social conditions of the working class at a national level.

At the audience, the President met with the leader of the National Union of Angolan Workers (UNTA-CS), José Joaquim Laurindo, the secretary-general of the General Confederation of Independent and Free Trade Unions of Angola (CGSILA), Francisco Gaspar, and the president of the Angolan Trade Union Force (FSA), Cleofas Venâncio, who presented to President Lourenço the main concerns and demands of workers, with special emphasis on the national minimum wage.

Speaking to journalists at the end of the joint audience, José Laurindo, who considered the dialogue important, said that the memorandum delivered to the Head of State summarised, in general terms, the main concerns of the working class.

“We have been having permanent dialogue with representatives of the Government to find a solution regarding the minimum wage”, he added.

On his part, Francisco Gaspar, from CGSILA, said that, among others, issues related to social security and the lack of publication in the Official Gazette of the statutes of several unions constituted more than 15 years ago were raised.

In the opinion of the President of the FSA, Cleofas Venâncio, the concerns of the workers were presented to the Head of State and with dialogue there will be a solution.

João Lourenço informed about summit on terrorism in Africa

Luanda – Matters related to the preparation of the Extraordinary Summit on Terrorism and Unconstitutional Changes of Governments in Africa were at the centre of this Wednesday’s meeting between Angolan President João Lourenço and the African Union (AU) Commission Chief, Moussa Faki Mahamat.

The information was given by the AU boss this Wednesday, in the end of an audience granted to him by the Angolan Head of State. The AU official said, on the occasion, that terrorism has been taking alarming proportions in Africa.

According to Moussa Faki Mahamat, the phenomenon has been expanding throughout the African continent, so there is urgent need to find solutions to overcome the situation.

The Extraordinary Summit on Terrorism and Unconstitutional Changes of Governments in Africa is slated to happen this May 26 and 28 in Malabo, Equatorial Guinea.

This gathering of African leaders, which is to take place under the umbrella of the African Union (A.U), was proposed by the Angolan Head of State, João Lourenço, during last February’s AU meeting held in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

Angolan President sends message to Nigerien counterpart

Luanda – A message from the President of the Republic of Angola, João Lourenço, to his Nigerien counterpart, Mohamed Bazoum, was delivered this Wednesday, in Niamey, following the initiative of holding an Extraordinary Summit on Terrorism by the African Union (AU).

The missive of the Angolan statesman was delivered by the Itinerant Ambassador Dombele Mbala Bernardo, as Special Envoy of the President of the Republic of Angola.

On the occasion, the President of the Republic of Niger welcomed the initiative of his Angolan counterpart and reiterated his availability to participate in the Summit of Heads of State and Government of the African Union (AU), scheduled for May 28 this year, in Malabo (Equatorial Guinea), devoted to Terrorism and Unconstitutional Changes of Governments.

He also said that at this summit of the continental organisation, he intends to present the current situation of his country, as well as that of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS).

The occasion was also used by the statesman Mohamed Bazoum to express the interest in bilateral cooperation with the Republic of Angola in the field of oil.

President appoints ANAC’s Board

Luanda – Angolan president João Lourenço Wednesday appointed the Board of Directors of the National Civil Aviation Authority (ANAC), stated the Civil Affairs Office to the President of Republic.

João Lourenço appointed Amélia Cristina de Sousa Domingues Kuvíngua as the chairperson of ANAC Board of Directors.

Other members include Neusa Nicole Pires Lopes administrator for the Regulation Area, Rebeca Carlos Manuel administrator for the Finance Area.

The president also named Manuel Maria Dantas Chagas Gonçalves administrator for the Operations Area, and Emanuel do Sacramento Vieira Candengue administrator for the Security area.

ANAC is tasked with supervising, inspecting and regulating the Transport sub-sector.

The objective is to comply with international obligations, reaffirming the challenges of the national authority in terms of civil aviation and reconsidering the organisational means and powers of the authority in force.
