Une enquête commandée par IHG Hotels & Resorts révèle ce que les consommateurs apprécient lorsqu’ils voyagent

DUBAÏ, Émirats arabes unis6 octobre 2022/PRNewswire/ — IHG Hotels & Resorts a dévoilé aujourd’hui les résultats d’une enquête commandée pour mieux comprendre comment les clients aiment passer leur temps lorsqu’ils sont à l’hôtel et les encourager à être eux-mêmes.

La nouvelle campagne mondiale de la société, Guest How You Guest, est une célébration des hôtels et de ces parenthèses que l’on s’accorde hors de notre quotidien. Les résultats de l’enquête ont révélé ce que les invités de la région recherchent dans une expérience hôtelière, les trois caractéristiques les plus populaires d’un séjour à l’hôtel étant le service d’étage à 54 %, les installations (piscine, sauna, etc.) (52 %) et l’éventail des aliments disponibles (49 %). Par ailleurs, environ 40 % des répondants appréciaient de ne pas avoir à faire de ménage ou à préparer leurs propres repas.

Les résultats de la recherche ont mis en évidence que 22% des répondants aimaient se changer pour le dîner pour avoir belle allure, tandis que 20 % se sentaient heureux en pyjama, les pantoufles de l’hôtel aux pieds.

Il apparaît également que 92% des répondants ont estimé pouvoir être totalement eux-mêmes en séjournant dans un hôtel, 54 % se sentant en outre toujours détendus pendant leur séjour. Toutefois, 14 % des répondants craignaient que leurs enfants se comportent mal et perturbent les autres invités.

Luachimo Dam tests in final stage

 

Dundo – The equipment load tests for the entry into operation of the first two turbines of the Luachimo hydroelectric dam, in eastern Lunda Norte province, are in their final stages.

This was announce by the director of the works for rehabilitation and expansion of the infrastructure by GAMEK, Joaquim Garcia.

The announcement was made at the end of a visit by the governor of Lunda Norte, Deolinda Satula, to the dam to see the level of physical and financial execution of the project.

Director Garcia, said that the first two turbines, with capacity to produce 17 megawatts of electricity, were already fully installed and would start providing electricity at the end of November or early December.

He said that in the first phase the first two turbines would produce electricity for the municipality of Chitato, explaining that the other municipalities were waiting for a transmission grid to be built to allow for interconnection.

He also said that the transmission grid for the other municipalities was not part of the contract.

The project, he said, included two electricity sub-stations already concluded with a 60 kilovolt transmission grid.

The other two turbines, with capacity to also produce 17 megawatts, together, had already been acquired and would arrive in Angola in the next few months.

Estimated at over US$212 million, via a credit line from China, the work will increase the power capacity provided by the infrastructure from 8.4 to 34 megawatts (MW), which will exceed local needs, or around 50 percent of the power produced will remain as a reserve.

The start of this energy project, which will have a power station made up of four generator groups of 8.5 megawatts each, totalling 34 megawatts, will make it possible to expand power supply to the benefit of 186,000 residents in the city of Dundo and the municipalities of Cambulo and Lucapa, including the localities of Fucauma, Cassanguidi, Luxilo and Calonda.

As well as household connections, which in the first phase will benefit over 9,000 families, the project also includes around 30 industrial connections.

Currently, over 20,000 customers benefit from electricity from the public grid in Chitato municipality, via a 30 megawatt thermal power station, whilst the nine municipalities in the interior are supplied by generator sets.

Court of Auditors stresses commitment to technological modernisation

 

Luanda – The Court of Auditors (TC) announced Thursday its commitment to modernisation of digital system, with focus on improving the effectiveness and efficiency of its work.

 

The presiding judge of the TC, Exalgina Gambôa, said the technological modernisation, which is now starting, is of great importance.

She stressed the role of technical modernisation in facilitating the pursuit of the tasks assigned to the court.

The judge highlighted the technical services of the TC, which have the responsibility of looking more closely at all elements related to the supervision of the State’s financial resources.

These are financial resources under the responsibility of public managers that, by legal requirement, are under the jurisdiction of the Court, as guardian of the legality of public finances and patrimony, she added.

Addressing a swearing in ceremony of the newly appointed staff of the sector, Exalgina Gambôa called for unity in actions, sharing knowledge, and open up, in order to contribute to the accomplishment of the competences attributed to each organic unit.

In her speech, Gamboa explained that the Court of Auditors participates in working groups that integrate auditors from several countries of the “OISC-CPLP” and “AFROSAI-E”, for coordinated audits at regional and international level.

“This is an unprecedented fact that honours us and will allow our auditors to gain international experience by sharing with high level and experienced counterparts”, she said.

The Court of Auditors´ missions include supervising the legality of the financial and administrative management acts of the State and other public and private institutions determined by law.

OPEC+ cuts oil production by two million barrels

Luanda – OPEC+ (Organisation of Petroleum Exporting Countries and allies) announced plans to cut oil production by 2 million barrels per day by November.

The decision was announced on Wednesday and taken “in light of the uncertainty surrounding the global economic outlook and the oil market (…)”, OPEC has said.

OPEC, the group of the largest producers in the world, led by Saudi Arabia, said that this is the most intense cut since the beginning of the pandemic, in 2020, made by the group.

Until November 2021, Angolan oil production stood at 374.8 million barrels, an average of 1.1 million barrels per day (bpd).

Adopted Sport: Angola beat Brazil, qualify for semi-finals

Istanbul – National Amputee Football Team defeat Brazil (2-1) Thursday and qualified for the semi-finals of the Amputee Football World Cup, taking place in Istanbul (Turkey).

The two goals of the national team were scored by Hilário Cufula, at 4 and 7 minutes.

In the semi-finals on Friday, Angola will face Haiti, who eliminated Tanzania, with a 4-1 victory.

President João Lourenço grants audience to UNITA leader

Luanda – The head of State João Lourenço received on Thursday the president of Angola’s main opposition UNITA party, Adalberto Costa Júnior, with whom he addressed national policy issues.

At the end of the audience, Adalberto Costa described the meeting as “an indicator” of condition for dialogue between the Government and his party.

“We held a first meeting in the sense that we could also understand the position, vision and perspective of doing the will of Angolan people and their greatest concerns”, he expressed.

While praising the occasion, UNITA leader said that it appears to be common for the institutions to know how to dialogue, regardless of the party they belong, when it comes to the national interest.

According to Adalberto Costa Júnior, the third president in the party’s history, it is always possible, on the basis of national interest, to work together.

In his view, Angola needs more democracy in its institutions. “It is these challenges that, if they are met, we will have a more democratic country”, he expressed.

Thursday’s meeting was the first, in private, between President João Lourenço and the leader of UNITA, after the August 24 general elections.

Fears of Quarantines, Lockdowns Mar Golden Week Festivities in China

 

China’s annual Golden Week festivities wind down Friday under the shadow of the COVID-19 pandemic with sharply reduced travel, frequent COVID testing and tight security in the capital ahead of this month’s 20th Communist Party Congress.

As in the past two years, authorities have sought to discourage the popular practice of traveling to one’s hometown or village during the period surrounding the country’s national day in early October. At least 24 provinces and cities issued announcements urging people to “spend the holidays locally,” including Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou.

The advice has been followed by many Chinese, who prefer to stay close to home in order to avoid frequent COVID tests, ID checks and mandatory quarantines. Citizens were warned before the holiday to especially avoid 1,619 areas marked as “medium- or high-risk areas.”

“If you leave Beijing, even if just to the nearby Tianjin or Hebei Province, your health app on the phone could send you a message when you return, reminding you there were positive cases in the places you’ve been,” said Allen, a 51-year-old information technology worker who lives in Beijing. “Then you’d have to be quarantined at home. Traveling means trouble.”

Only 9.7 million people took to the nation’s railroads Oct. 1, the first day of the holiday, according to Shanghai’s Dragon TV. That compares to as many a 15 million rail passengers on the first day of pre-pandemic Golden Weeks. The Ministry of Transport had predicted that road traffic this week would drop by about 30% compared to the same period in 2021.

Many universities shortened the seven-day holiday season to three to five days, citing the risk of COVID.

The nation’s zero-COVID policy led to even more restrictions in a few locations. The government in northwestern Xinjiang stopped all passenger traffic out of the region on Tuesday. And in Xishuangbanna, a popular tourist destination in southern Yunnan province, residents and tourists were banned from leaving the city after a few positive cases were found.

Security measures further dampened the festive mood in Beijing, where 2,296 delegates will soon begin arriving for the 20th National Congress of the Chinese Communist Party, which starts Oct. 16.

Authorities are determined to avoid any disruption of the event, where President Xi Jinping is expected to be re-elected to a historic third term as general secretary of the party. Police patrols have increased, and IDs are being checked more frequently.

Anti-COVID measures have been stepped up at airports at the request of the Beijing municipal government. Travelers from areas with confirmed COVID cases within the past seven days have not been allowed to enter the capital at all.

Visitors already in Beijing have been advised not to attend social events or enter crowded public places within seven days after arrival. They are also required to be tested twice within three days of their arrival.

Allen, the information technology worker, told VOA Mandarin the atmosphere in Beijing’s neighborhoods always becomes tense ahead of major political events like the Communist Party Congress.

At such times, “community volunteers” with red armbands patrol residential neighborhoods looking for “suspicious people,” he said, and plainclothes public security officers are evident in large numbers in politically significant locations such as Tiananmen Square and the Great Hall of the People.

Ms. Huang, a 42-year-old Beijing resident who works in the cultural innovation industry, said many people have grown numb to the incessant COVID testing they must undergo.

“In Beijing we have to do a test almost every 72 hours. Sometimes I forget when I’m busy with work, but when I take a subway or bus, or go shopping, my health app reminds me it’s time to do it again. It is quite inconvenient,” she said in an interview.

“People are becoming used to it, but it doesn’t mean people support it. There’s just nothing they can do about it,” she said.

Wu Se-Chih, deputy secretary-general of Strategy and Public Institute in Taiwan, said in an interview he believes the Chinese authorities have found the anti-COVID measures provide them with convenient methods of social control that will outlive the pandemic.

“The so-called stability maintaining measure will only become more frequent before the 20th Party Congress,” he said. “I even think after the congress, especially in early next year before the National People’s Congress in March, we won’t see any of these measures loosened at all.”

China’s Vast Xinjiang Hit With COVID-19 Travel Restrictions

Sprawling Xinjiang is the latest Chinese region to be hit with sweeping COVID-19 travel restrictions, as China further ratchets up control measures ahead of a key Communist Party congress later this month.

Trains and buses in and out of the region of 22 million people have been suspended, and passenger numbers on flights have been reduced to 75% capacity, reports said Thursday.

As is often the case with China’s draconian “zero-COVID” policy, the measures seemed out of proportion to the number of cases detected.

The National Health Commission announced just 93 cases in Xinjiang on Wednesday and 97 on Thursday, all of them asymptomatic. Xinjiang leaders on Tuesday conceded problems with detection and control measures but offered no word on when they planned to lift the restrictions.

Officials are desperate not to be called out for new outbreaks in their regions and Xinjiang has been under special scrutiny over the government’s establishment of a series of prison-like re-education centers in which Muslim minorities have been taught to renounce their religion and allegedly subjected to a range of human rights abuses.

Tech makes survelliance simple

Xinjiang’s vast surveillance system, relying on ubiquitous checkpoints, facial and even voice recognition software, and universal cell phone monitoring has made controlling travel among the population especially easy.

“Zero-COVID” has been closely identified with Communist Party leader Xi Jinping, who is expected to receive a third five-year term in office at the congress beginning Oct. 16. That’s despite criticisms from the World Health Organization and massive disruptions to the economy, education and normal life in China.

Last month, a nighttime bus crash that killed 27 people who were being forcefully moved to a mass quarantine location in southwestern China set off a storm of anger online over the harshness of the policy. Survivors said they had been compelled to leave their apartments even when not a single case had been discovered.

Leaders proclaim “zero-covid” a success

“Zero-COVID” has been celebrated by the country’s leaders as evidence of the superiority of their system over the U.S., which has had more than a million COVID-19 deaths.

Xi has cited China’s approach as a “major strategic success” and evidence of the “significant advantages” of its political system over liberal Western democracies.

Yet even as other countries open up, the humanitarian costs to China’s pandemic approach have grown.

Earlier this year in Shanghai, desperate residents complained of being unable to get medicines or even groceries during the city’s two-month lockdown, while some died in hospitals from lack of medical care as the city restricted movement. Last week, residents in the western region of Xinjiang said they went hungry during a more than 40-day lockdown.

A The Quad produzirá de três a cinco filmes por ano com um orçamento autofinanciado de 3 a 12 milhões de dólares cada e estrelará um importante influenciador junto com um diretor e ator de renome mundial

LOS ANGELES, Oct. 05, 2022 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Ryan Kavanaugh, em conjunto com a Proxima Media e Amy Kim e Jaime Burke, da Lifeboat Productions, anuncia orgulhosamente sua nova empresa de produção de filmes chamada The Quad. Matt Weaver e Jason Barhydt também atuarão como produtores da empresa, especializada em longas-metragens focados em terror, suspense, comédias americanas e histórias de amor. A programação anual contará com três a cinco filmes e terá um orçamento autofinanciado de 3 a 12 milhões de dólares por filme. A The Quad se valerá das sólidas relações de Kavanaugh com os principais influenciadores, cercando-as de atores e diretores de renome mundial. A nova empresa já fechou acordo com grandes talentos, entre eles Charlie D’Amelio, Bryce Hall e King Bach.

Para os próximos 12 meses, a The Quad já tem quatro filmes previstos após a finalização de SKILL HOUSE.
