Adapted Sport: Tourists to benefit special prices at hotels, lodges

The tournament will be hosted by the coastal province from 4 to 10 of this month.

While speaking to ANGOP, the head of the Provincial Association of Hoteliers of Benguela, Jorge Gabriel, said that the prices goes around the Akz 2.500,00 per meal and Akz 8000 to Akz 10.000,00 for accommodation, a deduction of about 30% to 40% respectively.

The official also informed that the prices on these special packages were agreed between the governing body of sport and the business class, so that the event could be held in the province of Benguela, as it has not only tourist conditions, but also favorable accommodation to host the competition.

”The province of Benguela has huge touristic potentials and amazing accommodation that can be compared to and even overcome many countries that already hosted the competition, and it makes all of us proud knowing that this time we are the host” said Jorge Gabriel.

Asked about the gains that the CAN will bring to the province, the hotelier said that, although the competition is of short duration, it will allow greater dissemination of the province’s tourism potential and other sectors such as fishing, transport and agriculture.

As for gastronomy, the hotelier said that they were surprised by the athletes of the various teams that are already in the venue of the competition, whose fish dish has been the most requested, due to the shortage of the product in several African countries.

On the other hand, Jorge Gabriel stressed that, in terms of transport, Benguela has personalized and qualified services to facilitate the mobility of visitors who want to know the arteries and charms of the province.

Despite the reduction of tourists in the province in recent years, due to the financial crisis and the bad state of the national road number 100, currently under rehabilitation, the hotelier is hopeful about better days and the large presence of visitors.

“The city is ready to welcome tourists” he said, adding that the province of Benguela has a potential of three thousand rooms and about six thousand beds.

Liberia, three times African champions, are the title holders, while Angola are the runners-up.

The CAN 2019 will be held in centre-west (coastal) Benguela Province from 04 to 12 October and will involve Angola (host), Nigeria, Liberia, Sierra Leone, Tanzania and Cameroon.
