Afrobasket2019: Angola in quarterfinals

Luanda – The national women’s senior basketball team qualified for the quarterfinals on Wednesday after beating Kenya by 64-51 in Dakar, in the eighth finals of the African Championship (Afrobaket2019), which is taking place in Senegal.

In the match, Angolan Rosemira Daniel, with 15 points, was the best scorer, followed by Kenyan Belinda Okoth (12).

With this result, coach Apolinario Paquete’s players face Senegal on Thursday for the quarter-finals.

Angola stood in second place in Group C with 3 points as a result of defeat against Mali (63-71) and victory over DR Congo (69-49), while Kenyans finished third in group D, with two points, resulting from defeats against Mozambique, by 39-55, and Cape Verde, by 57-64.

Angola already won the senior female Afrobasket in 2011 and 2013, while Senegal have 11 titles.
