AIA chairperson points out strategies to leverage agro-industry

Huambo – The implementation of an effective system for supplying drinking water and electricity, rehabilitation of roads and improvement of tax income, under the land tax, were pointed out Friday in Huambo city as the main strategies to leverage the existing agro-industrial potential in Huambo province.

The proposal was presented in this region of the country by the chairperson of the Industrial Association of Angola (AIA), Jose Severino, when speaking about the current situation and opportunities to improve the business environment during the 1st Huambo investment forum.

According to the official, the region of Huambo, along with Bie and part of Huila, Benguela and Malange, has a great agricultural and industrial potential that, well exploited, can guarantee self-sufficiency in corn, vegetables and fruits, helping the country out of the crisis.

The president of the AIA therefore hopes that the government will create conditions to encourage entrepreneurs to invest in the industrial complex of the municipality of Caala, in the province of Huambo, through the provision of drinking water, electrical energy and investment in business agriculture, as well as an in-depth study of the railway between Bie and Cuando Cubango, to facilitate the stay of the peasants in the fields of cultivation.
