Luanda – The Angolan President, João Lourenço, said on Thursday in Luanda that the term of ambassadors appointed to a country will be of three to four years, thus changing the current practice of indeterminate diplomatic mission term.
“We’ve already had Angolan ambassadors that remained in the same country two decades (…)”, said the president, stressing that this had to be corrected.
According to the Angolan Head of State, who was speaking at the swearing-in ceremony of sixteen newly appointed ambassadors, such a periodical rotation in the diplomatic sector was overdue in Angola, since this is what is normal in other countries.
According to him, the Angolan diplomacy as of late has been recording great dynamics, which is recognised by all.
João Lourenço went on to underscore that the Head of State and the Foreign Affairs minister have been playing their part, so it is expected that ambassadors do their best to promote a good image of Angola, attract foreign private investment and international tourism into the country.
“The mission was just given to you, so I hope you fulfil the missionwith success”, wished the Angolan Head of State to the ambassadors he appointed last Tuesday.
The president swore in the following diplomats:
1. Alfredo Dombe, for the post of Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Republic of Angola to the Kingdom of Spain;
2. Azevedo Xavier Francisco, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Angola to the Republic of Argentina;
3. Carlos Alberto Saraiva de Carvalho Fonseca, Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador to the Vatican State;
4. Cecília Caldeira da Conceição Rosário, Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador to the Kingdom of Sweden;
5. Clemente Pedro Francisco Camenha, Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador to the Republic of India;
6. Eustáquio Januário Quibato, Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador to the Republic of Guinea Conakry;
7. Fidelino de Jesus Florentino Pelinganga, Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador to the Republic of São Tomé and Príncipe;
8. Francisco José da Cruz, Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador and Permanent Representative at the United Nations in New York;
9. Isabel de Jesus da Costa Godinho, Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador to the Republic of Austria and Permanent Representative to the United Nations and other international organizations in Vienna;
10. José Bamókina Zau, Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador to the Federal Republic of Nigeria;
11. José Luís de Matos Agostinho, Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador to the Republic of Equatorial Guinea;
12. Júlio Belarmino Gomes Maiato, Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates;
13. Manuel Eduardo dos Santos da Silva Bravo, Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador to the Federative Republic of Brazil;

Vice-governors take oath
In the same ceremony, the president also swore in two vice-governors, namely Angelino Edmundo Elavoco for Huambo Province, and Luzia da Silva Bartolomeu José for Cuanza Norte Province.
