Angola and China seek closer cooperation on Environment

Luanda – The governments of the Republic of Angola and People’s Republic of China intend to strengthen cooperation in the field of environment, within the framework of existing relations between the two countries.

This intention was expressed Thursday in Luanda during the meeting between the Minister of the Environment, Paula Francisco, and the Chinese ambassador in Angola, Cui Aimin.

During the meeting, the parties addressed issues related to the protection of wild fauna and flora, as well as education campaigns on preservation of the environment.

The management of solid waste based on the new technologies was another subject addressed during the courtesy meeting granted by the Minister of Environment.

The Chinese ambassador considered Angola’s biodiversity to be rich, which in his view needs to be protected.

The parties agreed to hold a seminar on Angolan environmental legislation, addressed to the Chinese community resident and serving in Angola, in order to elucidate them about the penalties to which they are subject.
