ANGOLA AND DR CONGO SIGN FRAMEWORK AGREEMENT ON ELECTRICITY SECTOR

CABINDA (ANGOLA)– Angola and DR Congo signed a Framework Agreement for cooperation in the field of energy, which will make feasible the construction of the 220 KV power transmission line from the Inga dam to the province of Cabinda.

The ministers of Energy and Water of Angola, JoAPound o Baptista Borges and of Energy and Water Resources of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), were the signatories of the agreement which took place in Cabinda.

The energy transport line will depart from the Inga-RDC dam and will pass through the Congolese villages of Boma and Muanda and later to the Angolan territory of Cabinda in an extension of 179.4 km in the DRC and 47.5 km in Angola.

According to the program of the meeting, the parties should establish a general basis for cooperation between the two governments in the field of electricity, with a view to contributing to the development of their populations and strengthening cooperation through concrete actions to be implemented.
