Angola and Finland sign memo on political consultations

Luanda – A memorandum of understanding on political consultations was signed on Tuesday, in Luanda, by the Angolan and Finnish governments, represented at the meeting by Foreign minister Manuel Augusto and Foreign minister Timo Soini respectively.

The Finnish diplomat, Timo Soini, told the press that the partnership sets out rules and instructions for cooperation between the two states without disclosing the duration of the agreement.

In the final communique of the visit, which ended last Tuesday, the two ministers underscored the traditional relations of friendship that unite the two countries, based on the principles and values of democracy and freedom.

The parties analyzed regional issues, maritime security in the Gulf of Guinea, reform of Global governance institutions, as well as diplomatic efforts to find solutions to global problems.

The Finnish side expressed its support for the reform policy of the new Angolan Government led by President JoAPound o Lourenco.

Timo Soini was in Angola at the invitation of his counterpart, Manuel Augusto.
