Angola and UN sign partnership agreement

Luanda Angola and the United Nations will sign on Friday March 6 an Framework of Partnership agreement for the period 2020/2022 which will focus on several areas of economic social and political life.

The agreement according to a press note reached ANGOP will be signed by the Minister of Economy and Planning Sergio dos Santos as National Authorizing Officer of the United Nations System and representing the United Nations will be its Resident Coordinator Paolo Baladelli.

Cooperation will focus on areas such as the country’s economic and social transformation adolescents youth and women’s empowerment the environment and the resilience of the vulnerable population and finally democracy and stability.

In the first area Environment and resilience of the vulnerable population the objective of the Angolan government and the UN is to ensure by 2022 that the vulnerable population is resilient to climate change and the risks of disasters with sustainable and inclusive production. The achievement of this aim involves planning and managing the territory cities natural resources and the environment.

Regarding the area of democracy and stability the aim is to guarantee conditions for citizens to participate and monitor governance have access to justice and see the human rights observed in an environment of regional peace and security.
