Angola at CPLP Gender Equality Meeting

Luanda Angola will take part in the Republic of Cape Verde from 5 to 6 this month in the 6th Meeting of Gender Equality Ministers and officials of the Community of Portuguese Speaking Countries (CPLP).

The meeting aims to integrate, on a regular and transversal basis, the gender equality dimension in all policies, strategies, projects and multilateral cooperation programs developed within this framework.

The meeting also provides for a debate on gender-based violence and femicide in the CPLP, as well as the presentation of the CPLP cooperation ecosystem, Biennial framework for cooperation, special fund bylaws and review of the implementation of the 20172020

The event will discuss new activities of the pro-tempore Presidency on Gender Equality and Women’s Empowerment for the 2019-2020 Biennium by Cape Verde, as well as new proposals for cooperative action under the 2017-2020 Work Plan, and the adoption of the Declaration of the VI Meeting of Gender Equality Ministers and Officials.

According to a press release to which ANGOP had access on Monday, the Angolan Government placed the issue of gender as a priority in the National Agenda, promoting equal opportunities between women and men, with a view to becoming socially and politically active, in decision making and policy making that is more representative, inclusive and conducive to the sustainable development of the country.
