Angola: Athletics Federation Concerned About Lack of Women in National Contest

Lubango – Angolan Athletics Federation (FAA) said it was concerned about the absence of female athletes in the national competition, taking away the competitive pace.

The concern was expressed by the FAA president, Carlos Rosa, while speaking to Angop in Lubango, southern Huila province, where he watched Saturday the game of the National Road Championship, won by Luis Kuvingua and Domenica Tchiaka.

The official, who decried the deficit of the senior women athletes, called for the need to investigate the reason.

According to Carlos Rosa, the FAA technical team is working to determine the reasons behind the situation.

The absence is also felt at the level of young players, said the official, stressing that the Federation will strengthen its work in schools with the cooperation of physical education teachers.

He said that the intention is to encourage children to practice athletics.
