Angola attends International Council on Archives in Yaounde

Luanda – Angola is taking part from November 26 to 28 in Yaounde, Cameroon, at the Annual International Council on Archives, which is being held for the first time on the African continent.

According to a press release from the Ministry of Culture to which Angop had access, the event is held under the motto “Archives : Governance, Memory and Heritage” “, with approaches on current issues of archival and documentary interest.

The agenda includes, among others, issues on Archives buildings, preservation of documentation and the involvement of the Community in the conservation of Heritage, Archival Legislation as a factor of Democracy; the Archives and Human Rights, Conflict and Reconciliation.

Archives as a memory of decolonization at the United Nations and sustainable development are also part of the discussion agenda.

The Angolan delegation is headed by Deputy Director General of the National Archives of Angola, Francisco Alexandre and includes members and employees of the Foreign Migration Service, Information Directorate, Registry of the National Police Command, Angolan Armed Forces, Auxiliary Bodies of the Presidency of the Republic and Center for Documentation and Historical Research of the Ruling MPLA Party.
