Angola attends Paris Peace Forum

Luanda – Angola attends the 5th edition of the Paris Peace Forum that started Friday in the French capital, with a delegation led by the minister of State for Social Affairs, Dalva Ringote.

The delegation also includes the secretary of the President of the Republic for Social Affairs, Maria de Fátima Viegas, and the minister of Higher Education, Science, Technology and Innovation, Maria do Rosário Sambo.

Dalva Ringote, minister of State for Social Affairs, said that this is a global forum where world leaders are addressing the major challenges facing the world today, weakened by conflicts, immigration, world pacification, the consequences of climate change and the need for gender inclusion.

According to the Angolan official, the country will participate in several panels, with special attention to those that will discuss economic and social impact, women’s challenges, gender inclusion, and climate changes.

The Angolan minister added that the intention is to gather experiences and share the results obtained by the country in terms of combating climate change and how it has positioned itself at the African level on the gender issue.

This year’s edition of the forum is focused on the major challenges of today such as the fight against global warming, efforts to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals, strengthening health systems, economic cooperation, as well as the joint management of global public goods damaged by the Covid-19 pandemic.

Since the beginning of the Russia and Ukraine conflict, much of the world has also been affected by the consequences of this war with humanitarian crisis, rising inflation and energy prices, growing food insecurity and major economic and political disruptions.

The Paris Peace Forum is an international cooperation that annually gathers to address global challenges and ensure sustainable peace by promoting the interaction of all actors in global governance.

Heads of state and government, international organizations, non-governmental organizations, foundations, businesses, media, trade unions, religious groups and citizens participate in the meeting, which takes place under the motto “Overcoming Multi-crisis” and preventing destructive global polarization that would undermine collective efforts.

Since 2018, the Paris Peace Forum highlights governance projects or initiatives, proposing concrete solutions and actions, in the face of global challenges.

These solutions are distinguished by their international and multisectoral dimension and their ability to create sustainable change within world leadership.

The forum also guides global cooperation towards greener and more sustainable societies, ensuring a more ethical and secure digital world, and promoting more inclusive and a just society.
