Angola, Cabo Verde sign MOU

Luanda – Angola and Cabo Verde signed Friday a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on cooperation in the field of transport aimed to set and strengthen cooperation in civil, maritime and port subsectors.

The Angolan minister of Transport, Ricardo de Abreu, and the minister of Tourism, Transport and Maritime Economy of Cabo Verde, Jose Goncalves, signed the document during a ceremony held in Praia city (Cabo Verde).

The MOU features programmes to be launched by the two countries entities and institutions.

As for maritime and port area, the official reflected on the memorandum signed in August 2016 by the regulatory authorities from the two countries.

The objective is to ensure technical cooperation development between the two institutions.

Still on Friday, Ricardo Abreu was received in audience by the local Prime Minister Jose Ulisses Correia e Silva.

The parties discussed, among other issues, the need to reopen direct air links between Luanda and Praia, including the setting of a date for the resumption of commercially viable flights.

In Praia city, the two officials also signed the cooperation instruments between Cabo Verde Airlines and TAAG SA, as well as Civil Aviation Agency (AAC) and the National Civil Aviation Institute (INAVIC).

The Angolan minister of Transport has been since Thursday in Cabo Verde at the invitation of his counterpart, Jose da Silva Goncalves.
