ANGOLA DISMISSES AMBASSADORS AT CPLP, MEXICO, GREECE AND CANADA

LUANDA— Angolan ambassadors to the Community of Portuguese Speaking Countries (CPLP), in Mexico, Greece and Canada, have been dismissed by the President of the Republic, JoAPound o Lourenco.

They are Luis de Almeida (CPLP), Leogivildo da Costa e Silva (Mexico), Isabel Mercedes da Silva Feijo (Greece) and Edgar Gaspar Martins (Canada).

In a press release, the President of the Republic’s Civil Office says that the dismissal are part of the continuation of the process of closing some of the country’s diplomatic and consular missions.

In February this year, the Angolan government announced that it was studying the possibility of closing nine embassies and 18 consulates general.

The measure is based on the re-sizing plan of the country’s diplomatic network.
