Angola/football: Athletes with disabilities compete for regional Sports Award

Luanda -Angolan adapted football team are competing for the 2018 Regional Annual Sports Award (RASA) to take place in Namibia, said on Saturday the Secretary of State for Sports, Carlos Almeida.

Speaking at the ceremony to pay tribute to the Angolan adapted football team held in Luanda, the official said that the choice of the team is justified by their performances inside and outside Africa over the last years.

Angola ranked second in the World Cup competed in 2014, in Culiacan city (Mexico).

In 2018 the country won the trophy in the competition, also held in San Juan de los Lagos, Mexico, with the Angolan Celestino Elias Antonio being elected the best player of the world.

The first three editions of the event took place in South Africa.

The Angolan amputee football team comprise: Celestino Antonio, Heno AdAPound o, Catarino Carvalho, Jose Candieiro e JoAPound o Chiquento,Sabino Joaquim, Laurindo Lucamba, Augusto Lilito, Jesus Morais, Francisco Amaro, Jose Vitorino, Neves Undungo, SebastiAPound o Cacumba and Hilario Cufula.
