Angola gets about 3 to 5 million vaccines per year

Luanda – The country’s agricultural sector acquires between three to five million vaccines a year, aimed at health and prevention of livestock epidemics, said Thursday the national director of Agricultural, Norberto Pinto.

The official, who spoke to Angop about the two-day “Sanitary and Phytosanitary Inspectors” seminar, said that the number of vaccines has been enough to respond to the demand in the sector, taking into account that the country does not face so many epidemics in the animal husbandry segment.

He said there are four laboratories in the country, which are operating below installed capacity.

He also said that the country should equip itself with infrastructures such as laboratories to deal with food contamination problems and must also have vaccines available for disease prevention.

Ministry of Agriculture measure guarantees the quality of agricultural products and increase agricultural production and productivity.

On the other hand, the Secretary of State for Agriculture and Forestry, Andre de Jesus Moda, stressed that one of the bases for success in the sector is the training of the cadres, because only then will it be possible to respond to the challenges related to animal and agricultural production.

According to the official, this objective will be achieved through the operation of more laboratories, more local production of improved high yield seeds, establishment of one or more fertilizer factories, soil correction, establishment in the country of one or more lines of tractor assembly, irrigation system production units, and at least two industries of plows, machetes, hoes, files, among other tools and agricultural equipment.
