Angola hosts world military cross-country

Luanda – The world military cross-country championship in both categories (men and women) will be held in Luanda on 10 November this year, Angop learnt from an official source.

Twenty-five countries will participate in the event, according to the secretary general of the Military Sport Organisation of the Southern Region (ESALO), Angolan Jucelino Bento.

In order to ensure the success of the event, the national authorities are working on creation of conditions for its implementation.

The event will be organised under the auspices of the International Council of Military Sport (CISM).

In addition to the competition, the move allows moments of interaction, exchange of experiences among leaders, coaches and military athletes from around the world, said the senior official of the Angolan Armed Forces (FAA) and head of the Southern African Development Community (SADC).

In the previous edition, held in 2017 in Hungary, Angola was represented by two male and female Army athletes.

Founded in 1948, CISM is a transnational organisation based in Brussels aimed at fostering peace and friendship among the military through sport.
