Angola, Netherlands discuss higher education cooperation

Luanda – Angolan minister of Higher Education, Science, Technology and Innovation Maria do Rosario Sambo and the Netherlands ambassador to Angola, Anne Van Leeuwe, discussed Tuesday the cooperation in the field of training and science and agriculture.

Speaking to the press at the end of the meeting held in Luanda, the minister said that the meeting served to improve details of the visit of a delegation from her sector to the Netherlands, in the light of the government’s goals to adapt the higher education to international standards.

The minister also said the delegation to Netherlands will benefit from experience on the integration of young people in the labour market.

The visiting delegation will learn the reality of entrepreneurship in higher education and bring it to the Angola’s reality.

“We are in process of curricular harmonization. It will take some time and some courses will go through the learning process that will involve aspects that concerns entrepreneurship. In this way we will contribute to the improvement of some aspects in our higher education system, she added.

In turn, the Dutch ambassador to Angola, Anne Van Leeuwe, stressed the importance of the Ministries of Higher Education at the levels of the countries.

He said the sector is aimed at preparing education and the future of young people for the country’s development.

Stressing the need to diversify the economy in Angola, as one of the priorities, Anne Leeuwe admitted the need to do much in terms of education and diversification, adding that the two countries will work effectively and efficiently on education and Business.

The diplomat spoke of the existing cooperation on agriculture field between Dutch University and its Angola’s counterpart Jose Eduardo dos Santos University based in central Huambo province.

Two teachers are attending the training in the Netherlands, under the two-year cooperation.
