ANGOLA, PORTUGAL IDENTIFYING PRIORITY AREAS OF AGRICULTURE FOR CO-OPERATION

Angola and Portugal are identifying priority areas for co-operation in the field of agriculture, with a view to signing a two-year short-term co-operation agreement covering this sector, says Portuguese Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Luis Manuel Santos.

Speaking to the media here Monday after a meeting with his Angolan counterpart, Afonso Pedro Canga, he added that the identification of priority projects was being carried out in the institutional and business plan as part of a strategy to progress from the discussion to concrete phase.

The Portuguese minister envisages two institutional co-operation plans — between the respective ministries of the two countries and between the two governments.

He said the co-operation plans should be implemented through the exchange of experiences, providing scientific data, training at various levels of international relations and through co-operation at the enterprise level.

Pedro Canga highlighted in institutional terms the technical areas to be covered with a view to implementing joint actions in the short, medium and long term.
