ANGOLA, RWANDA EVALUATE CO-OPERATION IN URBAN DEVELOPMENT

LUANDA, Rwanda has expressed its readiness to share with Angola its experience in urban development, described as exemplary among African countries.

This was stated by the Rwandan Ambassador to Angola, Alfredo Gakuba, when he called on the Angolan Minister of Urbanisation and Housing, Branca do Espirito Santo, here Thursday.

Matters such as land registration, access to land and housing, as well as the directed self-construction sub-programmes were also analysed. These issues represent the largest chunk of the Angolan Government’s National Urbanisation and Housing Programme.

The Rwandan capital, Kigali, is the first African city to win a “Habitat Scroll of Honor” award for its tranquility, cleanliness and safety.

The United Nations Human Settlements Programme granted the award to Kigali city in 1989 in recognition of its commitment to the field of human settlements development by governments, organizations and individuals.
