Angola: Second Central of Cambambe Dam Starts Generating Power in June
Cambambe – The first turbine of the second central that is located in the Hydroelectric Dam of Cambambe (AHC), which will generate 175 megawatts of power, will start operating on June 30, the minister of Energy and Waters, JoAPound o Baptista Borges, has announced.
The minister was speaking to press at the end of a recent visit to the dam.
He revealed also that an investment of about 1.2 billion US dollars was made to meet the needs in electricity.
He noted that a new plant at the dam was built, with the installation of four new generators with 700 megawatts capacity.
He explained that one of the objectives of the construction of this project is to overcome the electricity deficit in the province of Luanda, estimated at 300 megawatts, and reduce the consumption through generators.
