Angola: Sonangol Literature Prize Values Palop Writers

Luanda – The Sonangol Literature Grand Prix is a contest that values even more the writers of the African Portuguese Speaking Countries (PALOP), as it encourages the creation and dissemination of their works.

This statement was said on Wednesday in Luanda by the director of Communication and Marketing Office of Sonangol, Mateus CristovAPound o, in the award ceremony of the prize of 2015 edition, won by the Mozambican Suleimane Abdulumane “Peniwaku Sassa” with the work “A Carta do Mbonga”.

He stated that the competition, which involved writers of Angola, Cape Verde, Sao Tome and Principe, Mozambique and Guinea Bissau, helps to develop the literary class in these African countries.

The initiative, he recalled, is part of the scope of social responsibility actions of Sonangol.

For this year’s edition, announced the director, there will be innovations, although he has not disclosed in detail the changes.

Instituted in 1987 by Sonangol, the event takes place every five years to distinguish qualitatively literary or research devoted writers of the participating countries.
