ANGOLA TO HOLD ITS FIRST INTERNATIONAL MINING FAIR THIS YEAR

LUANDA, — The Ministries of Geology and Mining; Petroleum; and Industry will jointly organize this year Angola’s first International Fair on Mining, Petroleum and Manufacturing.

This was announced here Wednesday by Minister of Geology and Mining Francisco Queiroz when he opened the 5th Consultative Council on Mining.

He said that in partnership with the Petroleum Ministry and Industry Ministry, they would continue to project a platform to attract investments on a global scale which was expected to have a big impact among investors.

Regarding the National Geology Plan (PLANAGEO), the minister said the current results encouraged the design of mining development parks, whose aim is to create basic conditions to empower the development of different mining activities in the country.

The airborne geophysical survey carrid out in Angola had identified 773 target areas of which 138 are classified as priority areas for exploration, he said.

The Minister of Planning and Territorial Administration, Job Graca, who also addressed the meeting, spoke of the role of geology and mining in the economic and social context of the country.

He added that diamonds, ornamental rocks, iron, and gold were selected for production under the targeted programmes.
