ANGOLA TO HOST 13TH SUMMIT OF PORTUGUESE-SPEAKING COUNTRIES IN 2020

SAL ISLAND, Angola will host the 13th Summit of Heads of State and Government of the Community of Portuguese-Speaking Countries (CPLP) in 2020.

This was decided at the 12th Summit of Heads of State and Government of CPLP held here on Tuesday and Wednesday. Angolan President JoAPound o Lourenco was among CPLP leaders present at the summit.

Angola is expected to take over the two-year presidency of the organization at the Luanda meeting in 2020.

The 12the Summit, which ended Wednesday, was held under the theme, “Culture, People and Oceans” with the participants discussing the free movement of people and goods among members of the CPLP.

The CPLP comprises Angola, Brazil, Cabo Verde, Guinea Bissau, Equatorial Guinea, Mozambique, Portugal, SAPound o Tome and Principe and East Timor.

The organization was established on July 17, 1996.
