ANGOLA TO HOST JOINT EXERCISE WITH SERBIAN, US UNITS

LUANDA, Angola will host joint military exercises with representatives from Serbia and the United States in December this year in Dande municipality, in the northern province of Bengo, an officer with the exercise planning team says.

The exercise, to be held from Dec 4 to 15, will enable the Angolan medical task force to test their preparations in treatment and dealing with patients affected by the Ebola virus while the Serbian unit will use the opportunity to become acquainted with dealing with tropical diseases, including malaria, dengue and respiratory diseases.

The Spokesperson for the Exercise Initial Planning Conference, Colonel Marlene Fonseca, said here Monday that the joint exercise would help boost capability in the treatment and preventive healthcare in the region.

The event will bring together members of the Angolan Armed Forces, the National Police, Fire Brigade, a Serbian unit and a unit from the Ohio National Guard from the US, she added.

She said the exercise would be preceded by three conferences, with the first having started here Monday and continuing until

March 31. The next conference will be held in Ohio and third is set for November, in Luanda.
