Angola wants news education partnerships

Sochi Angola has expressed interest in strengthening partnership with Russia in the higher education sector on training of specialised personnel in polytechnic education.

Angola’s intention was expressed Wednesday by minister of Higher Education, Science and Innovation Technology, Maria Sambo, on the sidelines of Russia Africa Forum in Sochi.

The minister said the goal is to increase job opportunities in Angola to help the country’s economy diversification process, but defended the need for the two countries to study the project.

Angola and Russia share intense cooperation in the education sector.

At least 1,800 students are being trained in Russia in higher education and post graduation in civilian construction, engineering and medicine.

In his first state visit to Russia last April, the Angolan President , Joao Lourenco, expressed availability to continue open to Russia’s cooperation in the training field.

He also requested Russia to provide scholarships to benefit young Angolans.
