Angola wins seven medals in African championship

Luanda – The national swimming team won seven medals including two gold medals occupying the seventh position of the African Zone Championship which ended this Sunday in Gaberone Botswana.

The two gold medals were won by Maria Freitas in the 100 meter breaststroke (1min: 24sec.73decs) and 200 meters breaststroke (3: 2.3).

The athlete from Clube Nautico also won two bronze medals in the 50 meters breaststroke (33 secs. 84) and 200 meters backstroke (2: 44.1).

In men category Filipe Freitas won two silver medals in the 200 meters breaststroke (2: 44.4) and 200 meters styles (2: 30.68) while Rafael Bredel secured the silver in the 50 meters butterfly (31.42).

With 24 participants Angola also snatched the fair play team trophy.

The Zimbabwe team were the champions seconded by Namibia. Botswana ranked third
