Angola with 7000 physicians

Luanda – Angola has only 7,000 physicians in various specialties for about 25 million people, according to the chairperson of Angola’s Medical Association.

Carlos Alberto Pinto de Sousa released the statistics at a press conference on Tuesday in Luanda, adding that the figure is still insufficient to meet the demand.

To this number, he said, the country has one physician per 4,242 people.

“We have been doing our best to train 600 doctors per year,” said Carlos Alberto Pinto de Sousa.

He said the Medical Association recommends that professionals attend permanent training and be identified in order to avoid mistakes.

According to him, mistakes may occur in the areas such as criteria, material and technical conditions.
