ANGOLAN FINANCE MINISTER HOLDS TALKS WITH SPAIN’S ECONOMY MINISTER IN MADRID

MADRID, Angolan Finance Minister Archer Mangueira has held talks with Spain’s Economy, Industry and Competitiveness Minister, Luis de Guindos, on ways of strengthening bilateral ties in the economic and financial sectors.

According to a statement received here Wednesday, the two Ministers met in Madrid where he attended a Spain-Angola business meeting organized by the Ministry of Commerce, the Spanish Agency of Exports and Investments, the Spanish Confederation of Business Organizations and the Chamber of Commerce of Spain.

Mangueira, who said Angola was in the process of adapting to a new economic paradigm, asked for the support of Spanish companies in the process to help Angola resume the export of multiple products. He also said the country needs more foreign investment.

He mentioned, among others, potential foreign investment in the infrastructure, renewable energy, health, new technologies and agri-food sectors.

While in Spain, the Minister also held meetings with the Secretary of State for Commerce, Maria Poncela, and with officials of the Banco Bilbao Vizcaya Argentaria (BBVA), Spain’s second largest bank.
