ANGOLAN GOVT ADOPS PLANS FOR SETTING UP INDUSTRIAL HUBS

The Angolan government has approved plans for the creation of a number of industrial hubs in the country to boost and develop the industrial sector through public-private partnerships (PPPs), says Industry Minister Bernarda Goncalves Martins.

The minister, who is on a visit to the southern province Huila, disclosed this during a meeting in this provincial capital Tuesday with Huila Governor JoAPound o Marcelino Tyipinge to review the state of the industrial sector in the province.

The Minister said industrial zones had already been set up in the provinces of Cabinda, Benguela and Huambo and her Ministry was now working with other provincial governors on granting of areas for the development of industrial hubs.

The Benguela provincial government granted 100 hectares for such a development in Canjala, she said.

According to the minister, it is up to the State to make available the support infrastructure in the industrial zones, including energy and water, to enable the private sector to operate.
