ANGOLAN GOVT PRIORITISING AQUACULTURE SECTOR TO BOOST FISH OUTPUT
LUANDA, — The Angolan government is giving priority to the development of aquaculture in the country in order to ensures a significant increase in the production of fish in the country in future, says Fisheries Minister Victoria de Barros Neto.
Speaking at a ceremony to introduce the new Secretary of State for Fisheries, Carlos Filomeno Martins dos Santos, and the general manager of the National Fisheries Inspection and Aquaculture Service, Domingos Azevedo, she added that aquaculture production would not only be for domestic consumption but also cover exports.
According to her, the fisheries sector included several programmes and initiatives and she called on players in the sector to persevere with these initiatives as well as to propose new ways so that the development of aquaculture can be achieved soon.
Azevedo said apart from sticking to the existing programme for aquaculture development, he would also focus on achieving the goals which had been established.
