ANGOLAN HEAD OF STATE INVITES CONGO, DRC COUNTERPARTS

Luanda – The Angolan Head of State, João Lourenço, on Wednesday invited his counterparts from Congo, Dennis Sassou Nguesso, and DRC, Félix Tshisekedi, to participate in the Peace Forum, to take place in Angola this year.

The Minister of State for the Social Area, Carolina Cerqueira, who, in Brazzaville, capital of the Republic of Congo, told the press that “peace is made through bridges and solid ties” was the bearer of the invitation letter.

At the end of the audience with President Dennis Nguesso, João Lourenço’s special envoy considered that the Peace Forum will be a great opportunity for the exchange of experiences among representative segments of women, youth, civil society, religious personalities and intellectuals.

She added that such initiatives can bring the African peoples together.

In KInshasa, capital of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Carolina Cerqueira was received by President Félix Tshisekedi.

At the end of the audience, she announced that she had informed President Félix Tshisekedi about the preparations for this meeting on the culture of peace, handing also the invitation for DRC to attend the gathering, both at the highest level and through social organizations of women, young people and artists.

She stressed that it will be possible together, to address peace issues and create a platform for understanding and dialogue among peoples across the African continent.

Carolina Cerqueira considered that DRC’s participation at the highest level will be of a great importance and impact, since its Head of State, Felix Tshisekedi, is also the acting President of the African Union (AU), an organization that adopted for this year the motto “Art, Culture and Development”.

The high-level Angolan delegation is integrated by the Minister of State and Head of the Security Area of the President of the Republic, General Francisco Pereira Furtado, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Téte António.
