ANGOLAN PRESIDENT CONGRATULATES NIGER COUNTERPART ON RE-ELECTION
President Jose Eduardo dos Santos of Angola has sent a congratulatory message to his Nigerien counterpart, Mahamadou Issoufou, on his re-election as president.
The message was delivered to President Issoufou last Saturday in Niamey, Niger, by Angolan Minister of Foreign Affairs Georges Chikoti, who was in the Nigerien capital to attend the swearing-in ceremony of the Nigerien leader. Chikoti represented the Angolan Head of State at the swearing-in ceremony.
President Issoufou, 64, who holds a doctorate in Physics and Mathematics, was re-elected with 92.49 per cent of the votes during the second round of the presidential election held on March 19.
Angola and Niger maintain friendly relations and healthy political co-operation with openness to enlargement in other sectors where appropriate.
