Washington d.c.: Vice President Esperança da Costa on Tuesday participated in a meeting with US Senator Martin Heinrich.
According to Angola Press News Agency, the meeting also included the presence of the Mozambican Head of State, Daniel Chapo, and John B. Gantt, the founder and CEO of the ICCF Group. The discussions aimed at strengthening political and diplomatic relations between Angola and the United States and focused on enhancing regional cooperation among African countries. This meeting was part of the annual gala dinner of the International Conservation Caucus Foundation (ICCF).
The meeting also sought to deepen bilateral relations in various fields such as environmental, academic, social, and scientific domains. Efforts were made to promote institutional partnerships and consolidate environmental diplomacy, with a particular emphasis on highlighting the leadership role of Angolan women in international forums.
Cooperation between Angola and the United States spans a wide range of areas, including
trade, health, defense, security, energy, agriculture, and infrastructure. In recent years, bilateral ties have been bolstered through the signing of new agreements and memoranda of understanding, particularly in the aviation and defense sectors. The Lobito Corridor Project, considered strategic for regional economic development, is a testament to these strengthened relations.
Regarding Angola and Mozambique, the two nations have intensified cooperation in transport, tourism, culture, and agriculture sectors, aiming for economic and social development. A notable initiative includes the project to establish a direct air link between Luanda and Maputo.
Additionally, Vice-President Esperança da Costa is expected to address the annual ICCF gala ceremony, an event that convenes political leaders, diplomats, and international organization leaders dedicated to environmental preservation and sustainable development.
