ANGOP’s board chairman reiterates working conditions improvements

Luanda The Angola Press Agency (ANGOP)’s C.E.O, Josue Isaias, said Wednesday in Luanda that the company shall continue to focus on the continuous improvement of working conditions and workers remunerations.

The ANGOP board chairman highlighted current measures being undertaken like the introduction of medical insurance for workers, whose agreement will be signed in the coming days, the rehabilitation and refurbishment of the newsrooms and data centre.

Speaking at the reception with employees and guests in celebration of the company’s 44th anniversary (30 October), the ANGOP board chairman highlighted as well the occupational qualifier, an instrument that was made in record time and was approved by the Ministry of Public Administration, Labour and Social Security (MAPTSS).

Other priorities appointed by Josue Isaias are the process to verify debts with internal and external suppliers, as well as the focus on working on ANGOP’s editorial policy.

The continuing cycle of trainings for journalists, technicians and office staff and the continuous negotiations with financiers for the construction of the agency headquarters building from scratch are also part of the board’s goals, he said.

Ahead of us there are lots of other challenges, such as the installation of an agency to produce multimedia products for the distribution of prepaid content, he added.

The anniversary activities programme included the performance of the gospel singer Solange de Nery and the presentation of the ANGOP Award by the Content Area Administrator, Jose Chimuco.

There was also the performance of a dance group composed by the agency workers, prize giving to the winners of the chess, card game (sueca), and checkers tournaments, as well as the performances of the singers Toya Alexandre and Acacio.

The festivities of the 44th anniversary of ANGOP started on the 16th of October with the lecture Local Governments, What is expected from journalists Contribution of the Media.

Other lectures were about The Retirement and its taboos and Freedom of the Press and Access to sources and data.

During this period was also held an indoor soccer tournament.

The Angola Press Agency, known by the acronym ANGOP, is a public company that was founded in 1975 (Oct 30).
