Attorney General’s Office recovers USD 2.3 bln Sovereign Fund assets

Luanda – The Attorney General’s Office (PGR) said it has recovered the assets of the Sovereign Fund of Angola worth USD 2.3 billion, which were under the management of Quantum Global, a company belonging to Jean Claude de Morais Bastos.

The said assets had been stashed in UK and Mauritian banks, and are currently in the possession of the Sovereign Fund of Angola.

In its statement, PGR also announced the recovery of all real estate assets estimated at USD 1 billion.

They comprise hotel infrastructure, gold mines, farms and resorts based in Angola and abroad.

The Attorney General’s Office states, therefore, that it has dropped the case related to Jean Claude de Morais Bastos, and decided to release him.
