Benguela hosts Angola/Portugal Business Forum

Benguela – An Angola/Portugal Business Forum is to take place this Thursday in the centre-west Benguela Province run by the Private Investment and Export Promotion Agency (Aipex), whose aim is to boost the business environment between the two nations.

ANGOP learnt that the forum – which is split in three panels, namely Support to Private Investment, Financing the Productive Sector and Angola/Portugal Economic Relations – is to be addressed by Portuguese and Angolan specialists.

Official data show that, in the first quarter of 2018, Portuguese exports reached 348.7 million Euros, which represents a decrease if compared to the same period of 2017, when it recorded 449.1 million Euros.

Data from the Statistic Institute of Portugal show that the structure of the main groups of goods exported to the Angolan market remains, the machines representing 82.2 million Euros, followed by agricultural products 64.3 million of Euros and chemicals products 37,586 million of Euro.

Meanwhile, Angola’s exports to Portugal increased 99.93 percent from January to March this year compared to the same period last year, having increased from 62.5 million Euros in 2017 to 124.9 million Euros in 2018.
