Biennial of Luanda to kick off in 2019

Lisbon – Angola’s Culture minister, Carolina Cerqueira, announced on Sunday in Lisbon, that the country will host the Biennial of Peace in 2019, which during five years will promote the nation as a world peace and friendship capital amongst the peoples of the five continents diaspora.

The minister, who was speaking during a get together with artists and representatives of the Angolan community in Portugal, said the invitation received from UNESCO director- general, Andrew Azulay, during the visit in July this year, of the president of Angola, JoAPound o Lourenco, to this institution’s headquarter in Paris.

The choice of Angola proves the respect and credibility that the country has at international level in the defense of the peace, friendship and fraternity amongst the peoples, based on dialogue, mutualism and consultation, said the official.

The cultural week in Portugal, took place in the ambit of the three-day visit of the Angolan president to Portugal, which included several events namely of culture, fashion, gastronomy, music, painting, dance, plastic art and literature.

Several Angolan artists participated in various cultural events such as Valdemar Bastos, Te Macedo, Nadir Tati, Etona, Edy Tussa, Maria Borges, Rosa Palhares and Guilherme Guizefe.
