BNA releases USD 55 million for trade operations

Luanda – The National Bank of Angola (BNA) auctioned on Thursday USD 55 million to commercial banks to cover trade and private operations.

The amount made available is also expected to be applied to commercial operations still in the possession of commercial banks for the period 2015 to 2017 (foreign exchange arrears, which are in accordance with the exchange regulations, but for some reason have not yet been paid abroad, reads BNA site.

As from October 1st this year, BNA will no longer sell foreign currency directly to commercial banks.

Requests for the purchase of foreign currency will only be conducted by financial institutions authorized to trade by the Central Bank.
