China: President JoAPound o Lourenco arrives in Beijing

Beijing – The Angolan Head of State, JoAPound o Lourenco, arrived in Beijing early this Monday morning, in the ambit of a two-day official visit to China at the invitation of his Chinese counterpart, Xi Jinping.

The Angolan Head of State, who is being accompanied by First Lady Ana Dias Lourenco, returns to China 36 days after participating in the Third China/Africa Co-operation Forum, held on 03-04 September.

JoAPound o Loureco was welcomed at the airport by the Chinese Foreign Affairs mnister, Chen Xiaodong.

The Angolan Head of State is starting his state visit on Tuesday with the placing of a wreath at the Tiananmen Square, in which one finds a monument that honours Chinese heroes.

Still on Tuesday, President Lourenco is to have a meeting with the Chinese Prime Minister, Li Keqiang.

The Angolan President’s agenda also includes meetings with Chinese businesspeople and the chairman of the Permanent Committee of the National People’s Congress (China’s parliament), Li Zhanshu.

The official talks between the delegations of the two countries are to begin on Tuesday, an encounter that is expected to produce four agreements, with highlight on the accord to put an end to double taxation between both states.

Angola is currently one of China’s main trading partners in Africa since 2007.
