COVID-19: Angola receives 25 tonnes of bio-safety material

Luanda – The Angolan government received from China, last Thursday, 25 tonnes of different material to combat covid-19.

This is part of a 380-ton batch of purchased material with resources from the Angolan State and which is currently the largest acquisition of equipment to combat covid-19.

Of the 380-ton purchase, the country has so far received 120 tonnes.

The next shipment is scheduled to arrive on Saturday, 23.

According to the minister of Health, Sílvia Lutucuta, the TAAG flight brought bio-safety material, reagents and two testing machines to reinforce the provinces in the diagnosis of covid-19.

The minister said that the government continues to receive equipment in large quantities to support the fight against  covid-19.

On that same day, a batch of bio-safety equipment and material went to Cabinda province and this Friday the destination will be the Lunda Sul Province.

To this end, the commission has the support of the Air Force in the transportation of the material.

Last week, the country received 10 tonnes of various equipment donated by Qatar, through its foundation.

Thus, Angola has 58 positive cases, including three deaths, 17 recovered and 38 active cases (clinically stable), 31 of which were locally transmitted, all in the province of Luanda.
