Covid-19: Cacanda prison creates isolation rooms

Dundo – At least two isolation rooms for newly arrived inmates and cases compatible with Covid-19 symptoms have been created in Cacanda prison, eastern Lunda Norte province to prevent and contain the spread of the pandemic in that institution.

According to the prison’s director, José Lucala, as preventive measures the institution has restricted all visits and meals from the inmates’ relatives.

The food stock has been reinforced to secure that three meals per day are provided avoiding any contact between prisoners and their relatives during the period of the State of Emergency, the director said.

He also said the establishment has created bio-security conditions for the staff inmates.

Cacanda prison has currently 577 inmates in its establishment.

There are currently 37 citizens in quarantine in Lunda Norte province, two of whom are in institutional quarantine centers, while the remaining 35 others are complying with the measures at home.
