Moçsmedes: Dario Antonio, a cyclist from Interclube, claimed victory in the 4 km prologue race held in MoçSmedes, Namibe Province, clocking a time of 5 minutes and 14 seconds.
According to Angola Press News Agency, Euclides Chingue from Luanda’s AST team secured the second position with an identical time of 5 minutes and 14 seconds. Meanwhile, Igor Silva Pepino from Benguela’s JT team finished in third place with a time of 5 minutes and 17 seconds.
Kelson Rodrigues, representing the JT team, earned the jersey for the best young rider, finishing with a time of 5 minutes and 30 seconds. Cristóvo Teixeira from the TCJ team won the white jersey, completing the race in 5 minutes and 18 seconds. The jersey for the strongest climber was awarded to Cristiano Rame from the ACJ team. Dário António currently holds the overall lead in the race.
The Namibe/Huila Long Distance race is set to commence on Saturday in Caraculo, located in the municipality of Bibala.
A total of 79 cyclists from 27 teams across 14 countrie
s are participating in the fourth edition of the ‘Volta a Angola Pepino 2025.’ The participating countries include Cape Verde, Nigeria, Guinea-Bissau, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, South Africa, Senegal, Mali, and Mozambique.
The 4 km prologue served as an individual time trial, offering athletes their first chance to demonstrate their skills ahead of Saturday’s race.
