Economy promises better articulation among agents

Luanda – The minister of Economy and Planning Sergio Santos promised on Monday in Luanda a better articulation between the various national agents so that Angolan producers can sell to foreign markets.

Speaking to the press after a meeting with a business mission from the Kingdom of the Netherlands composed of 25 members including businesspersons and government representatives Sergio Santos stressed that businesspersons will be supported in the preparation of projects so that they have easy access to credit.

Regarding the business mission Sergio Santos highlighted the fact that entrepreneurs from the Netherlands travel to the country to buy products namely fruit and potatoes when normally the practice is for them to come and sell their products.

He stressed that national producers now have the possibility of having entrepreneurs from the Netherlands at the place of production.

To Angolans who joined the Credit Support Program (PAC) he said the possibility of partnering with businesspersons from the Netherlands is open.

In Angola entrepreneurs from the Netherlands will work with representatives of 13 companies and other entities all linked to agro-logistics such as fruit importers to Europe an international fruit certification entity agricultural producers equipment factory representatives and storage as well as consultants from the Netherlands.

This is a process initiated between the two countries in September 2019 within the scope of the Mapping of the Fruit Sector of the Lobito Corridor and the Program to Support Production Export Diversification and Decrease in Imports – PRODESI.

Trade between the two countries is more than $400 million.

The business delegation has an agenda for fieldwork in the Lobito corridor namely Benguela and Huambo but is also expected to work in Quibala (Cuanza Sul Province) in Caxito (Bengo) and Funda (Luanda).

Netherlands has a market for imporation of fruit valued at Euros 16 billion/year.

For example only South Africa exports fruit to the Kingdom of the Netherlands equivalent to three billion euros a year.
