Edipesca to increase fish storage capacity

Luanda – The Sea products Distributor company (Edipesca) intends to increase its storage capacity of caught fish from 1,800 tons to 5,000 tons as from 2019 fruit of an agreement signed by Angola’s government and Export-Import Bank of South Korea.

Estimated at USD 57 million, the agreement aims at building new infrastructures for fish processing and distribution as well as the rehabilitation and modernization of Edipesca.

The amount to be applied will also enable the company to create new 101 jobs, said the company’s director general, Rafael Pascoal.

In his turn, the director for African Affairs of the Department of Fund Operations for Cooperation and Economic Development of the bank, Kevin Choi, said the financing will aid to develop the fishing sector of Angola and strengthen the cooperation relation of both countries.

Edipesca operates for 50 years in the country and has a quarterly production of 600 tons of caught fish.
