ERCA defends regulation of Angolan journalism

The official, who was speaking at Bengo provincial assembly of journalists, says that it takes some discipline, sense of responsibility, so that the journalist cannot be nicknamed mugimbeiro (gossiper).

For the chairperson of ERCA, it is necessary to know who is actually a journalist, who is qualified and to see the conditions under which he/she works, in order to put some order in the media.

I believe that with the holding of the general assembly of journalists there will be a phase in our journalism prior to this one and a later one. It is our deep desire to change the state of things we live in our country, said Adelino de Almeida.

The provincial assembly of Bengo journalists gathered contributions from these professionals to enrich the proposal of the class code of ethics and deontology and elected journalists Suzana Pedro of Public Television (TPA), JoAPound o Agostinho Chimin Radio Bengo and Francisco da Silva, Angola News Agency (Angop) as delegates at the general assembly set for 26 October in the country’s capital (Luanda).
