EU promotes creation of jobs in cultural sector

Luanda – Angolan minister of Culture Carolina Cerqueira praised Monday the European Union Project to support Portuguese Speaking African Countries (PALOP) on job promotion in the cultural sector, saying that the move helps boost creative industries.

This was at an audience she granted to the EU Ambassador to Angola, Tomas Ulicny ,which focused on the implementation of the 19.2 million euro programme, under the Portuguese Culture Institute

The five-year project which covers PALOP and East Timor will ensure the creation of jobs for young people, mainly for artists, craftsmen, show producers, writers and art makers.

The Project will also strengthen the partnership relation between PALOPs and EU, thus contributing to training and development of competencies.

As to launch the project in Angola, the European diplomat said to rely on direct intervention from the Ministry of Culture by mobilising cultural agents and promoters to actively take part in the programme.
